I'm in the midst of finalising my dissertation proposal, and while I wanted to get a post up, I don't have the time to write up a heartfelt and insightful blog post. So I wanted to leave you with something I came across in my research. The below passage was quoted by the CEO of Not Just A Label, Stefan Siegel, during the Condé Nast International Luxury Conference, earlier this year:

"There is a huge problem with social media. Technology should be groundbreaking, not destroying the self-esteem of young talented creatives. We’re pushing children into addiction by letting them blindly follow Instagram celebrities. There is no pride in making children wait hours for a new sneaker collaboration, we should be adults with moral integrity. When we encourage people to become famous rather than creating famous things and celebrating craftsmanship, we have gone wrong, 'Have you seen my Instagram?' should not be a barometer for creativity."
